What a Collagen Mask Can and Cannot Do
A collagen mask is a moisture event. It is not a syringe, and it is not for every face.

Collagen molecules are large. A jar of them will not march into the dermis and rebuild the scaffolding that time and sun have thinned. What a good collagen mask does is more modest and still worth doing: it floods the surface with water, supports a cranky barrier, and leaves skin looking smoother for the day because plump skin reflects light. That is a real effect. It is not the same sentence as “this replaces a procedure.”
The masks that earn a repeat are the ones that feel calm. A regenerating collagen mask used after a facial or a long flight is a recovery tool, not a Tuesday dare. Sheet masks with ginseng and peptides can be the travel version of the same idea, useful when the hotel air is dry and you have twenty quiet minutes. They are a poor idea on skin that is already broken out or on very young skin that does not need occlusion piled on every night.
Use them as a finish, after cleansing, not as a stack on top of acids and retinoids. Thirty minutes is plenty. If the skin stings under the sheet, take it off. More time is not more collagen. It is more irritation wearing a scientific word.
