Makeup Color Cannot Hide a Dry Surface

Color is the part of makeup people plan. Texture is the part the light records. On dry skin, foundation catches on flakes, blush sits in patches, and shimmer under the eye becomes a map of lines. Adding more pigment makes the problem louder. The surface needed water and a little oil before anyone opened a compact.
The order is dull and reliable. Cleanse without stripping if you wore product. A hydrating layer on damp skin. A cream that sinks in before makeup, with a few minutes of waiting so you are not mixing cream and foundation into pilling. If the skin is flaking from a retinoid, that is not a makeup week for experiments. Ease the active, repair the barrier, then return to color.
A beautiful shade on a calm face looks like less makeup, which is the result most people were chasing with more of it. Fix the dryness first. The color will need less help.
