How to Tell a Mask Worth Buying Again
A mask you repurchase has one job and a texture you do not dread.

Masks are where routines go to feel productive. Clay, sheets, overnight creams, and five-minute polishes all get called the same word. They are not interchangeable. Clay pulls oil and can leave dry skin worse. A sheet mask is occlusion and water. An overnight mask is a cream you are willing to sleep in. A “master” mask earns the name only if you can say which of those jobs it does, and if you buy it again after the first jar without being reminded.
The repurchase test is stricter than a first impression. A first impression is scent and slip. A repurchase means the skin looked calmer or more even on the mornings after, and the texture was pleasant enough that you did not skip it. If you need a special evening and a playlist, it is a ceremony, not a staple.
Use a mask after cleansing and before or instead of your last cream, not on top of a retinoid you just applied. Ten to twenty minutes is a treatment. Two hours under a dry sheet is a film. If a mask is the one product you would buy again, keep it and let three others go. That is an edit, not a deprivation.
